Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. As of February 2020 she had signed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 in Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's career. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of free food from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink too much and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she graduated as a D student.
